Muni-meters causing major stir
New centrally located parking meters are roiling local drivers who believe the muni-meters are just the city's way of making it easier to earn money from residents.
The new meters require drivers to walk to the central location, pay for their spot and then walk back to their cars to place a receipt in their dashboard. The Department of Transportation launched the pilot program to alleviate parking along Morris Park Avenue. Some residents say it has made shopping a chore, but others say they've found a way to escape paying for a spot.
"Now they actually have to bend over and look into the window," says one driver. "How many times do I leave one from a couple days ago and they don't even bother looking at it. They just look at the time."
