A Morris County man held a donation drive Saturday for sports equipment that will soon be sent to soldiers in Iraq. Eddie McClain parked in front of the Rockaway Borough Veterans Memorial, and collected sports equipment that teams and families dropped off piece by piece. This is the third year McClain has collected donations to ship to Iraq. McClain says he does it so that the soldiers will have something to do with their time off when they reach a base away from the dangers. McClain saves the letters soldiers send him. He says one captain wrote to him saying that being able to toss around a baseball truly brightens their day. He says their appreciation makes it all worthwhile. McClain will be back in front of the Rockaway Borough Veterans Memorial to collect equipment March 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
