Health professionals at Montefiore Medical Center say they've seen a spike in parents who have brought their children in to be checked for swine flu.
Doctors say there has been a 30 percent to 40 percent increase in emergency pediatric cases recently at Montefiore. Dr. Andrew Racine says history has shown a spike in adult visits normally follows.
"Generally speaking, we see the upswing in children first because of close quarters with school and then adults start to come a week or so later," Racine says.
But doctors say the upturn doesn't necessarily mean more people are sick, only that more people are aware and concerned about swine flu.
