The owner of two Montclair restaurants has come up with an interesting way to honor their closing.
Zod Arifai, owner of the restaurants Blu and Next Door, says that he is closing the restaurants because he decided it was time for something new. As a way of saying thank you, Arifai says that customers can pay what they want for a meal for the month of August.
"I want you to be in the driver's seat," says Arifai. "I want you to decide what this food was worth to you."
Arifai says that the majority of his patrons have been paying more than what the meals typically cost.
"He has more faith in humankind than I do, but thank God he didn't listen to the people that said don't do it," says longtime patron Rosalie Saferstein.
Arifai has been so encouraged by the success that he has thoughts to open a restaurant with this concept full time.
