Monmouth County officials seek public’s help in case of missing 19-year-old Sarah Stern
Officials in Monmouth County are asking for the public's help getting information about the disappearance of a 19-year-old woman from Neptune City.
Sarah Stern has been missing since Dec. 2. Police say she was last seen at her home earlier that afternoon. Monmouth County Crime Stoppers have offered up to $5,000 for information about Stern.
Stern's 1994 silver four-door Oldsmobile 88 was found several hours later abandoned near the Route 35 Bridge in Belmar. The keys were still inside.
Water rescue teams searched the Shark River to see if Stern may have jumped from the bridge.
"An extensive search in the water and the surrounding area was conducted in an attempt to locate Ms. Stern with negative results," says Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.
Those water teams continued to search the area for several days, but still did not find anyone in the water.
Officials say that at this time Stern's whereabouts are not known and they are asking the public to keep an eye out.
The teen is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has a medium complexion, long dark brown hair that hangs past her shoulders and hazel eyes.
Anyone who may have any information about her disappearance is asked to call Detective Brian Weisbrot from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office at 732-431-7160 or Detective John Mahoney from the Belmar Police Department at 732-681-1700.
