A foundation honoring the Bergen County man killed in a New York City terrorist attack last year is helping high school graduates get vocational education.
A one-mile walk took place Saturday in Darren Drake's hometown of New Milford Saturday.
Drake was riding his bike in Manhattan in 2017 when investigators say an Islamic State group sympathizer in a pickup truck ran him over. He was one of eight people to be killed in that attack.
Proceeds from the Darren Drake Foundation event will go toward scholarships for students interested in attending trade schools. The first scholarship awarded by the foundation is going to a firefighter who will be attending an automotive school.
Drake's parents say they have plans to award many more scholarships in the future.
