(04/05/06) MARLBORO ? Voters in Marlboro will soon head to the polls to decide the fate of courtesy busing in the school district.
School officials are looking for ways to slash money from the budget, and the courtesy busing service could be a casualty. The superintendent says he?d rather voters make that call instead of the state. Many parents say they support busing to keep kids safe and to make parents? lives easier.
Other residents have mixed feelings about the issue, claiming children who live very close to the school don?t need to take the bus. If the courtesy busing service stays in place, homeowners can expect taxes to go up about $75 per year on homes assessed at $300,000. The vote will take place on
April 18.
