Man accused of stealing, crashing Nutley police car pleads not guilty

A man who allegedly led police on a chase from Nutley to Clifton in a stolen police car pleaded not guilty Monday. Edgar Ordonez entered the plea before a judge via video in the Passaic County Courthouse.

Man accused of stealing, crashing Nutley police car pleads not guilty
A man who allegedly led police on a chase from Nutley to Clifton in a stolen police car pleaded not guilty Monday.
Edgar Ordonez entered the plea before a judge via video in the Passaic County Courthouse.
Ordonez is charged with carjacking, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and weapons offenses.
Authorities say that Nutley police were responding to a domestic violence incident when Ordonez got into the patrol car and drove away. He allegedly assaulted a police officer who tried to stop him.
He was captured a short time later by Clifton police when he allegedly crashed the cruiser into an SUV as he tried to get onto Route 30.
