An old field in Eastchester is slated for a major makeover that includes security cameras.
The rundown grounds at the Boston Secor Houses will receive a $1.5-million facelift after money was secured by Counciloman Andy King's discretionary and capital funding.
Officials hosted a walk-through of the area to tell people about the changes they can expect. The project not only promises the installation of surveillance cameras, but also big improvements to the senior center, and a track and field.
Tenants can't wait for the project to be completed. They say there used to be sports fields that got a lot of use, and they hope newer generations will have the chance to finally utilize the open space.
Community leaders say the goal is to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony within the next two years.
