If you're still trying to think of something special
to do for your mom on Mother's Day, how about treating her to a memorable and
iconic performance?
The Alvin Ailey American
Dance Theater is returning to New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark this
Friday through Mother's Day.
Whether you've seen the dance
company on stage before, or this will be your first time, you'll experience
something new since the show is celebrating 10 years of Robert Battle's
leadership. He says you'll see some of his new works as well.
"One work is to the
music of Nina Simone", says Battle. "Stevie Wonder, there's a work I
did called love stories to finger tips. That's very exciting and it's exuberant
and uplifting and what we need right now. It's really exciting and coming
through this pandemic and finally being back live and in person on the stage
and certainly at NJ-PAC where we have such history there and such devoted fans.
They're dancing better than ever I just encourage everybody to come out because
we've been locked down for two years and not performing live so we have a
lot to say on that stage.”
