Officials warn there will be delays for drivers using the Lincoln Tunnel with tongiht's start of a yearlong project to overhaul the helix ramp leading into the New Jersey end of the tunnel.
The $88 million project will include repaving and other work on the concrete deck along with steel under the roadway.
The tunnel will remain open and accessible during the overnight work, but eastbound lanes will be closed from 10:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. on weekdays.
NJ Transit bus passengers will face delays into New York City between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekends.
Work on the 70-year-old helix will go on until next summer. Then work on the westbound lanes will begin.
