Michael LaSane has been sentenced to more than 60 years in prison for the murder, kidnapping and carjacking of a Tinton Falls schoolteacher.
The judge sentenced LaSane, 27, to at least 30 years in prison for murder, 15 years for kidnapping and 15 years for carjacking. Earlier this month, a jury took only two hours to find LaSane guilty of murdering special education teacher Kathleen Weinstein 11 years ago. At the trial, jurors listened to the entire ordeal, which was captured by a tape recorder hidden in Weinstein's pocket.
LaSane maintained his innocence throughout the trial. However, LaSane originally pleaded guilty when he was 17 years old, a fact that jurors were never told.
