A Seaside Heights nightclub made famous by the MTV show “Jersey Shore” could lose its liquor license after police cited several people for underage drinking at a Memorial Day party Sunday night.
Club Karma owner John Saaddy tells News 12 New Jersey that police, fire and emergency services came to the club without being called. He says that the club was hosting an event called “HyperGlow.” He says that guests of all ages were frisked and patted down.
Seaside Heights officials say that four people were cited for underage drinking and six others were treated for overdosing, a claim Saaddy denies.  Saaddy says minors may have had access to alcohol after doors were left open by police.
“We will be filing a complaint, an administrative complaint, seeking his liquor license,” says Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz.
Vaz says that the borough filed an injunction against Club Karma last week because they say that the club violated an ordinance. A court date is still pending.
Club Karma came into the national spotlight after being featured on MTV. It is an image Vaz says he wants to move past by bringing in more family-friendly entertainment to Seaside Heights.
“That was the positive step forward and something like this, when you get this type of an operator who only cares about himself and doesn’t care about the borough, that pushes us two steps back," Vaz says.
Saaddy says that he will be talking to his attorneys and will file a lawsuit against the borough for its actions Sunday evening.
