Historical items from anthropologist Louis Pierre Ledoux will be auctioned off next month in Morris County.
The event will take place at the Willow Auction House.
The items include masks, jewelry, daggers, and more from an expedition to Papua New Guinea in 1936.
Ledoux left the items at his home in New York, where they sat for 80 years until his estate was cleared.
"This doesn't happen. This is akin to going into a pyramid in Egypt and finding a whole new collection," says Jason Iorio, of the Willow Auction House. "The history is there. All the documentation is there."
The entire collection is worth at least $400,000.
The auction will be Nov. 16.
