A Morris County barber was cutting a client's hair when a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck New Jersey.
Barber Ray Winch sent News 12 New Jersey a video of the moment the earthquake hit. He was working with a client at Walt’s Barber Shop in Flanders.
“It felt like a truck was headed toward the building. You’re first reaction is fight or flight…and then I realized it was an earthquake,” Winch says.
The quake was centered in Hunterdon County at 10:23 a.m. on Friday The effects were felt in multiple states.
“The guy in the chair, he said he was getting ready to get up and go. I’m just thankful I wasn’t trimming around his ears at the time, or we might have invented a new hairstyle,” says Winch.
Winch says there wasn’t any damage inside the shop, and he checked for water or gas leaks.
