Many wounded veterans returning to the Garden State are facing new battles different from the ones they faced overseas.

Shane Ugliono, of Hawthorne, nearly lost his life in Iraq. He was shot multiple times during a gunfight and eventually lost all use of his left arm. Now that he is home with his family, he is struggling to learn how to perform common tasks all over again. Everyday tasks, such as texting friends and tying shoes, take him longer to do right-handed. Ugliono says he gains a lot of his strength from his wife.

Ugliono doesn?t just struggle physically. He also struggles financially to make ends meet. He says he constantly waits for answers from the government on how he will pay his family?s bills.

Many other soldiers are going through what Ugliono deals with daily. That is why Reps Gym owner Guy DelCorso tries to help out in any way he can. He sells items at the gym in Ugliono?s honor. DelCorso also holds fundraisers at the gym.
