The Victoria Health Care Center in Matawan is the only New Jersey facility to make it onto the federal government?s worst nursing homes list.
A new government report rates the care center as one of the worst nursing homes in America. According to the report, the facility showed no improvement from last year. Over the past two years, inspectors found more than 30 separate deficiencies at the center. The government claims some of the problems included a pattern of medication errors, widespread failure to follow regulations and a failure to prepare food in a safe and clean way.
The New Jersey Department of Health also has problems with the facility. The state?s nursing home report card gave the facility a grade of 76.5, while the state average is 92.5.
