I-Team Investigates: Lost Memories Update
The New Jersey Attorney General?s Office is now stepping in to help couples who lost their money and wedding photos when a major wedding studio shut down.
Celebration Studios recently closed, leaving customers without photos and videos they had already paid for. The studio cites financial trouble as the reason for its closure.
Now, hundreds of New Jersey couples are getting help from the state. New Jersey?s Division of Consumer Affairs is suing Celebration Studios and its owner, Marc Schwartz. The lawsuit accuses the company of violating the state consumer fraud act. It also freezes the studio?s assets, including photos and videos.
?The company knew they were going under and they continued to promise people services, despite the fact they knew they were in financial trouble,? Acting New Jersey Consumer Affairs Director Larry DeMarzo says. ?That is one of the allegations we will attempt to prove.?
The attorneys for Celebration Studios insist the company simply got into financial trouble and did not realize it would have to close until it was too late.
