EDISON - Homicides in New Jersey are at its lowest point since 2009. In 2012, 374 people were killed.

A New Jersey police chief credits the drop in deaths to arrests of high-level gang members. After having a large increase in 2011, Union County deaths dropped from 36 to 28.

Elizabeth and Plainfield also saw a decrease in violence for the first time since 2009.
