Holmdel superintendent on damage control after Kenilworth superintendent arrested
The Holmdel Schools superintendent says that he has had to be on damage control after the superintendent of another school district was caught allegedly defecating on the Holmdel High School athletic field.
Holmdel Superintendent Dr. Robert McGarry says that his office was flooded with calls, texts and emails from concerned parents, colleagues and community members when the news broke. Several media outlets had incorrectly stated that McGarry was the superintendent who was arrested.
McGarry says that he took a page from the district’s fourth-grade curriculum about being responsible with their reputation online.
Holmdel school technology supervisor Caren MacConnell said in a statement, “We give all students in grades 1 through 6 the tools to begin to safeguard their online reputation and we teach them that if there is something posted about them on-line that bothers them, there are steps they can take to try and clean it up."
McGarry says he’s been doing this by reaching out to the various media outlets to make sure they had the story correct. He says that he is looking forward to sharing his real-life lesson with this student.
Kenilworth School Superintendent Thomas Tramaglini is facing several misdemeanor charges after he was allegedly caught in the act defecating on the Holmdel field. Tramaglini lives several miles away.
Holmdel police say that school officials alerted them to the fact that human feces was found on the field for several days in a row. Investigators began monitoring the area and that’s when they identified Tramaglini as the alleged defecator.
