A young playwright at Toms River North High School will debut his new show about Superstorm Sandy this weekend.

The play is called “Stronger than the Storm,” and it tells the story of those who were personally affected by Sandy.

High school senior Luke Sulsenti says that it was important for him to focus on the experiences of real people when he was writing the play.

“Over the summer, a team of 10 students and I went out and we reached out to our community. We asked if anyone had any stories to tell involving Hurricane Sandy,” Sulsenti says. “It could be a family who lost their house in the flood. It could have been a first responder who was tasked with, like , more search and rescue. We wanted to hear them.”

More than two dozen of Sulsenti's classmates auditioned for the roles.

The play will be performed at Toms River North High School Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Sunday marks the fifth anniversary of Superstorm Sandy in New Jersey.
