WEATHER TO WATCH: Hot and steamy in NYC; strong storms possible this evening

NEW: Scattered thunderstorms arrive tonight with periods of heavy rain, thunder and lightning. These storms could pose the threat of localized flash flooding.
NEXT: Cold front stays nearby tomorrow with the threat for more wet weather by Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning. Relief from the heat settles in Thursday afternoon into the weekend with temps in the low-80s.

Overnight: Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms. Clearing out after 8 p.m. Humid. Lows near 75.
Wednesday: Still very warm and muggy. Chance of storms. Highs near 85. Lows near 72.
Thursday: Showers ending early, feeling more bearable with lower humidity. Highs near 84. Lows near 70.
Friday: Superb! Warm and pleasant. Highs near 82. Lows near 67.
Saturday: Sunny, warm and fantastic. Highs near 81. Lows near 67.
Sunday: Mostly sunny and warm. Highs near 85. Lows near 68.
Monday: Mostly cloudy and warm. Highs near 83. Lows near 69.
