A warning has been issued for travelers at Newark Liberty International Airport about a possible measles exposure.
According to officials, back on Monday, a young child went through the airport at Terminal B and then departed from Terminal C.
Officials say the child was an international passenger coming to Newark from Brussels.
If you were at the airport between 12:45 and 9 p.m., you are at risk of exposure.
The health department will notify any passengers from New Jersey if they were on those flights.
It’s the second time this year a passenger infected with measles went through the airport.
Some travelers say passengers need to be aware and not put others at risk.
“I don't think anyone should be flying with a contagious sickness,” says Jakob Jakoba of Jefferson. “I didn't know about it, but I'm not happy about it.”
Symptoms of measles include high fever and a rash. You may also have a cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes.
Measles can cause serious complications, such as pneumonia and encephalitis or even swelling of the brain.
Symptoms can appear as late as April 2.
If you think you have been infected, Department of Health officials recommend calling a health care provider before going in.
