Hanukkah officially begins Dec. 2 at sundown, but many New Jerseyans are getting into the spirit early.

Students at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey partnered with Newark-based Manischewitz Company to break the world record of the most people spinning dreidels simultaneously. A whopping 1,369 dreidels were spun at the same time, breaking the previous record of 965.

And in Monmouth County, the Center for Jewish Life is spreading Hanukkah cheer around the state. The center has erected dozens of giant menorahs along Route 9, the Garden State Parkway and other roadways in the state.

"Children will see it from their cars and ask their moms or dads ‘What is this? Why? What is this all about?’” says Rabbi Yossi Kanelsky.

Hanukkah lasts for eight days.
