Handyman gets 80 years for abusing client's child
The Ocean Township handyman found guilty of sexually abusing his client?s young daughter was sentenced to 80 years in prison on Friday.
A jury found Clement Bilski, 45, guilty of abusing the child from the time she was 2 until she was 6. Bilski also videotaped the assaults, which the jury was forced to watch during the trial. The judge sentenced Bilski to the maximum prison term for the 143 counts of sexual abuse.
During his sentencing, Bilski told the courtroom the horrors of his own childhood. He claimed his father was an alcoholic and showed him pornography when he was in the first grade. Bilski also claimed a neighbor sexually abused him.
Before Bilski was sentenced, the victim?s father read a statement to the court.
Bilski says he plans to appeal his conviction. He will not be eligible for parole until he?s 106 years old.
Meanwhile, prosecutors say there are still 10 other child victims. The judge hopes those cases will be settled out of court so their families do not have to deal with the stress of additional trials.
