Gov. Chris Christie wants the Patriot Act to be renewed in its current form.
The governor held a town hall event while traveling in New Hampshire Friday. At the event, he also said that the National Security Agency's bulk collection of phone records should continue.
The Federal Appeals Court ruled on Thursday that the NSA's bulk collection of phone records is illegal because it was never authorized to do so by Congress.
Gov. Christie said that he is confident Congress and the Justice Department can provide appropriate oversight on the data.
