Glassmakers blown away by Asbury Park
An art form typically found in locations like Cape May has made its way to Asbury Park on the Jersey Shore.
Some say a glassmaking studio on the boardwalk between Fourth and Fifth avenues is a symbol of progress in the city. The owners of ?Hot Sand? studio say they are blown away by the opportunity that exists in Asbury Park.
The glassmakers say the cheap rent and location in an Urban Enterprise Zone lured them to the Shore. They say everything they buy for the shop is tax-free, and that is an opportunity they couldn?t pass up.
Customers don?t just get to purchase items, they can get a chance to learn the art of glassblowing. Many residents say the studio is a sign things are changing for the better in Asbury Park.
