The New York Giants are hoping to gain a victory in Week 2 of the NFL season after losing their first game.
The Giants will take the field this Sunday at MetLife Stadium for their home opener against Buffalo. Unfortunately for the Giants, the Bills have already proven they can win in East Rutherford thanks to a Week 1 victory over the Jets.
“They're one of the best defenses in the league last year and they had a pretty good game this past Sunday,” says Giants tight end Evan Engram. “The guys are going to have to step up and make plays when opportunities come.”
The Giants lost to the Cowboys last week with a score of 35 to 17. Head Coach Pat Shurmur says that that team is not dwelling on that loss.
“We're doing the math on this one game. We're trying to be 1 and 0 this week, you know? We don't focus on it, I don't focus on it…We talk about moving forward, we're putting all the focus on what we're going to do this week,” Shurmur says.
Giants safety and East Orange native Jabrill Peppers says that the key to winning this week is staying confident.
“You know, I think we've got a great group of guys, smart guys who can play fast. We just have to do a little bit extra this week. Sometimes you've got to see it for yourself to make the proper changes and I have the utmost confidence in those guys, that they are going to rebound and come out here and play big,” Peppers says.
The Giants home opener against Buffalo is this Sunday at 1 p.m. News 12 New Jersey will have pregame coverage throughout the week.
