Thousands of New Jerseyans remain without power this weekend, days after the one-two punch from a pair of wintry nor'easters.
Some have been in the dark for more than a week, in chilly temperatures in the 40s that dip much colder at night.
Basking Ridge residents like the Schafers decided to stick it out in their cold home, and are finding creative ways to get by. They've been cooking on a propane camping stove and sitting by their fireplace at night.
Amid word that power outages could stretch into next week, the only thing many residents can do is fill up on gas for their generators and wait.
While some angry homeowners are demanding to know why repairs are taking so long, others are sympathyzing with hardworking linemen, many of whom are spending countless hours restoring power in the chilly weather.
More than 400 linemen from across the country are in New Jersey working to restore power.
By Saturday evening, JCP&L was reporting mroe than 4,200 outages, with the highest in Morris and Union counties. PSE&G was reporting about 12,000 outages, with the most in Essex County. Orange Rockland Power had about 9,800, with the bulk in Bergen County.
