Monmouth County residents marched to the Freehold Police Department demanding answers over an alleged case of police brutality.

A group of about 50 protesters walked a mile from the Monmouth County Sheriff?s Department to Freehold police headquarters where they rallied for justice in the case of Migdallia Irrizary. Irrizary says she was the victim of excessive force during a Jan. 29 traffic stop. According to Irrizary, a Freehold police officer pulled her out of her car, twisted her arm and punched her 15-year-old son in the face.

?Certainly a motor vehicle stop should not end with a 15-year-old getting punched in the face and damaged severely and a mother being arrested,? said De Lacey Davis, a retired police officer who led the rally. ?It just doesn't make good community-police relations.?

Freehold Police Chief Mitchell Roth said the incident is being investigated. He hopes for a dialogue between police and the protesters.

?Hopefully together, between the officers and the community, we can build stronger bridges out of this,? said Roth.
