A Monmouth County family is on a mission to help New Jersey eat and feel better.

Beyond Organic Growers is a sustainable farm and juice bar that sits on a large stretch of property in Freehold.

“We sit on 212 acres,” says co-owner Theresa Reid.

Reid says that she started the business after getting interested in her own health.

“About six years ago, I wanted to eat clean,” she says. “I started thinking about where my food was coming from.”

The farm features a greenhouse for aeroponic farming – which means vertical growing.

“You’re growing in towers…Your plants will grow in what's called rockwall, which is not soil, it’s like volcanic rock, melted down into ash,” says Reid.

Rockwall is known to save land and water.

“Every time somebody walks in that’s never been here, they say the same thing, ‘Wow,’” says co-owner Matt Engleke.

Beyond Organic Growers also hosts farm-to-table dinner and evening yoga sessions.

Reid says that the real goal of the farm is “to help sick people get better and to help, whatever the age is, just to help them eat better.”
