Tinton Falls residents are crying foul over a seagull invasion in the southern part of the town.

The birds are roosting on townhouses in the Fox Chase development. Borough officials say a falcon program at the nearby landfill caused the birds to move into residential areas about a month ago.

Droppings from the seagulls can be seen throughout the neighborhood, leading some parents to keep their children indoors to avoid a potential health hazard.

The Monmouth County Reclamation Center has since stopped the falcon program, but the seagulls continue to pose a problem. The Monmouth County freeholders who oversee the landfill say they are consulting with their bird expert to try and find a solution. They say they take these complaints seriously and want to correct the problem.
