A Martin Luther King Day of Service food distribution event was held in Hackensack on Monday.
The Center for Food Action teamed up with AmeriCorps to make it happen.
Families received a box of canned goods, fresh produce and other essentials. Distribution events were held at Jackson Avenue School, Fanny M. Hillers Elementary and Dr. John Grieco Elementary.
"Center for Food Action's mission is to prevent hunger and homelessness. So, we have identified several schools in Bergen County that may have populations that are in need of emergency food,” says Center for Food Action special events planner Nicole Davis.
Center for Food Action is one of the largest food relief agencies in New Jersey.
