First Responders Day held in Bayonne
The first Bayonne First Responders Day celebrated those who help others in emergency situations Saturday.
Bayonne Mayor James Davis estimates thousands of people were in attendance. The day was celebrated as a family fair, with food, music and face painting.
The state police showed up with a helicopter.
Bayonne's OEM coordinator says 2019 is the 150th anniversary of the city of Bayonne, and that this is part of their celebration of that milestone.
There was a K9 demonstration and a fire department demonstration.
Davis says he hopes to see First Responders Day become an annual event.
