UNION CITY - Fire swept through five businesses in Union City yesterday.

Windows were broken out on the second floor of the stores as firefighters put out the blaze. A clothing store, a pawn shop and a phone store were among the businesses damaged.

The street corner at 40th and Bergenline Avenue is sealed off today with fire-damaged debris on the sidewalk.

The fire marshal was at the location today investigating the cause.
