A fire at the home of a Hopatcong police officer who made headlines earlier this week is now under investigation, officials said.

Authorities said flames caused significant damage Tuesday night to the Mount Arlington home belonging to Hopatcong Officer Nicholas Maresca Jr. No one was injured.

Investigators said they believe an electrical issue started the fire.

Marescu pleaded guilty Monday to harassment charges stemming from slapping a prankster who was wearing a bunny costume.

Under his plea deal, he was fined $500, but was allowed to keep his job.
