A large fire that grew to three alarms is now out at the Skytop
Gardens Apartments in Sayreville.
According to the fire chief, the fire broke out
around 4 a.m.
The fire chief says two units are a complete
loss, and at least two families have been displaced. Fire crews were able to
rescue a pet bird.
“Our manpower is great,” says Fire Chief Anthony
Mercado. “We had about 50 firefighters
total from Sayreville and surrounding municipal middle text county units that
assisted us. We had about five engines, two ladder trucks and a rescue truck.”
There are no serious injuries to report.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.
