A new one-of-a-kind inclusive complex
for people with special needs opened Saturday in Toms River.
The RWJ Barnabas Health Field of
Dreams is designed to be more accessible for wheelchairs and adaptive
equipment.
The project was developed after Mary
Kane’s 11-year-old son Gavin Kane
suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident.
Kane says her wish is for her family
to be seen for the abilities and not their disabilities.
“I wish
for my special needs family to feel a place of utter joy and no judgement,” says Kane.
Gavin threw out the ceremonial first
pitch for former MLB All-Star and Toms River native Todd Frazier.
