? U.S. Secret Service agents broke up a major counterfeit money ring Friday that was taking a financial toll on New Jersey businesses.

Federal investigators arrested two men in New York and seized $3.5 million in fake money. Authorities expect to make more arrests. Agent David O?Connor says the New York-based ring affected New Jersey businesses like Modell?s Sporting Goods and Boston Market.

O?Connor says a fake stack of $100,000 sells for up to $15,000 in real money. He says the easiest way to tell the difference between real and counterfeit currency is its feel. He says it is hard to duplicate the type of linen paper money is printed on.
