JERSEY CITY - Super Bowl week kicked off with a bang with a star-studded concert and fireworks display tonight in Jersey City.
Headliners included the Goo Goo Dolls, Daughtry, and The Fray. Jordin Sparks hosted the event.
Security was tight for the sold out show on the Hudson riverfront. Free tickets and $40 VIP tickets went quickly.
Promoters called the event the first-of-its-kind Super Bowl Kickoff Concert.
The concert and fireworks display was part of a week of New Jersey events, including a Saturday night show in Teaneck where Nellie and former quarterback Doug Flutie will be on hand for a flag football challenge.
A pre-game party with Cindi Lauper and The Fray will be held Sunday at the Izod Center.
