JERSEY CITY - Both the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks arrived in Jersey City yesterday, ahead of next Sunday's Super Bowl.
Football fans lined the streets outside the two hotels in Jersey City where the teams will be staying to try and get a glimpse of their favorite players.
The Broncos are staying at the Hyatt Regency and the Seahawks are staying at The Westin. With both teams staying in close proximity, fans are getting into the spirit and supporting their favorite teams.
One Broncos fan told News 12 he was disappointed when he found out that he was staying in the same hotel as the Seahawks, when the Broncos are right down the street.
Another Broncos fan decided to walk past the hotel where the Seahawks are staying wearing Broncos colors, in a show of solidarity for his favorite team.
However, Jose Mercado, a valet manager, stated he thinks the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl.
Jersey City got a headstart on next week's party with live music, games for kids and a warming tent for fans to cope with the freezing temperatures. Mayor Steve Fulop says having some of the festivities in Jersey City has been a boost for both the town and local businesses.
"The NFL has been great to us. We expect tens of thousands of fans, it's a great boom for Jersey City."
The league is spreading Super Bowl events around New Jersey. Besides the teams staying in Jersey City, the game will be held in East Rutherford and Newark is hosting Media Day.
