WOODBRIDGE - Homeowners in who live in flood zones in Woodbridge can now apply to the federal buyout program.

The Department of Environmental Protection says federal funding has been earmarked to acquire flood prone properties in Woodbridge, and they wanted to provide information on how the program works.

An information session was held at the First Presbyterian Church Tuesday night.

DEP spokesman Bob Considine knows that homeowners have difficult decisions to make. "We're here to tell people what they can do, what they can't do. And its basically up to the residents to make their own decisions at the end of the day."

Officials say the sooner homeowners apply to the township, the better their chances of being accepted. The Township of Woodbrige will submit a list of homes eligible to FEMA.
