BELMAR - The summer after Superstorm Sandy still has some life left with many attending Belmar’s San Genaro Feast at the Jersey Shore.

The day began with a 5K run and continued with Italian foods, wines, games and activities. The event benefits the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Jersey Shore municipalities and businesses are relying on popular post-Labor day events to help bring visitors back to beach communities during what many are calling a “second summer.”

Organizers say more events will be held to bring people back to the shore over the next few weeks.
