SEASIDE HEIGHTS - Many are hoping that reconstruction of the Seaside Heights and Seaside Park boardwalk will be done by the start of the summer beach season.

The boardwalk and many of its businesses were destroyed last year in a massive fire.

Seaside Park councilwoman Gail Coleman says plans for the new boardwalk will go before the town’s planning board soon.

“They’re going to be going in front of our planning board and hopefully their plans will be with Seaside Park's vision," Coleman said today. The meeting is scheduled for April 25.

Two blocks of Seaside Heights’ boardwalk will also need to be rebuilt.

Seaside Heights Mayor Bill Akers says reconstruction on that portion is expected to begin in April and should be completed by Memorial Day weekend with temporary stands in place.
