OCEAN COUNTY - Drivers in Ocean County are frustrated by detours created by ongoing, but much needed construction on Route 35.

A detour right after the Route 37 bridge as drivers go from the mainland of Toms River onto the barrier island forces motorists into Seaside Park.

To head north on the island, they must drive through Seaside Heights.

Summer residents voiced concerns about the possible delay the work could cause for emergency services, but people who spoke with News 12 were taking the traffic problems in stride.

"It's an inconvenience, but obviously a necessary one, and I'm happy they're doing it," says Ron Marmo, of Lavallette.

The state waited until Labor Day to start the major construction work so the summer crowd wouldn't be affected.
