MOONACHIE - A school damaged by Superstorm Sandy in Bergen County received a facelift today thanks to the work of volunteers.

The Robert L. Craig Elementary School in Moonachie was damaged during the storm and reopened earlier this year. Jersey Cares, a nonprofit group, brought together other groups to paint the playground and do landscaping on the school’s property.

The idea behind the project was to bring some cheer to a school that went through a rough period.

The playground restoration is one of 46 projects across the state the Jersey Cares is participating in.
