RINGWOOD - Residents in Ringwood are concerned digging by a local quarry could impact the environment.

Borough officials have filed a lawsuit, saying the Saddle Mountain quarry is digging too deep and residents there get their drinking water from wells.

Some fear the digging could contaminate the water and dry up the supply.

An attorney for the quarry says the excavation will not cause harm.

The two sides were in court Wednesday after settlement talks failed.
