MANTOLOKING - Homeowner Val McDowell invited News 12 New Jersey into her Mantoloking home to see the devastation left behind from Sandy.

McDowell has lived in Mantoloking for 17 years. Her home is still standing but inside are bare walls down to the studs.

One stud has a Sandy message on it and she says she hopes no other person will ever have to see that again.

McDowell says there have been a lot of ups and downs, but overall things are starting to come together.
