LACEY - Officials from both Lacey Township and Berkeley are calling for dune restoration at Island State Beach Park.

Both municipalities have approved resolutions asking the Army Corps of Engineers to include the park in its dune project.

Berkeley Township officials say flooding during Sandy in sections of South Seaside Park and Bayville were caused by breaches in the dunes at Island Beach State Park.

Mayors from both communities are worried the missing dunes could add to flooding problems in the future.
