KEANSBURG - The owners of Keansburg Amusement Park say they had a successful summer season in spite of damage from Sandy, even without all the rides back up and running.

Management at the park boasted about putting Sandy behind, with signs on the fa├žade that read, "Sandy Schmandy."

Rides like the swing still need repairs and the same goes for Fun City, but arcade games that were washed away have been replaced.

Employees say even they were impressed by the crowds. "Definitely not as much as I thought it would be, but strong," says Steven Hertel.

Although the amusement park survived, many Keansburg homeowners are still repairing flooded homes or elevating them to meet new flood insurance standards.
